When someone has a stroke, parts of the brain are damaged and the ability to move or talk is often affected. You may feel like a different person because your brain has changed. Memories shift, self-image changes, even the parts that make up personality may change.
Science has shown us that the brain is capable producing new neurons as well as connections between existing neurons throughout our life in a process called “neuroplasticity”. Our understanding of the brain’s ability to change is pushing the boundaries of what we previously thought possible, especially in the fields of stroke recovery and brain injury, and there is great potential for healing.
NeuroMovement® takes advantage of this enormous potential for your brain to "re-organise" itself to help you recover after a stroke or brain injury. Through the use of subtle, gentle and innovative movement patterns, your brain is flooded with new information and is activated for new learning. With this technique, your brain will be able to reset its map of its “new” body, ultimately growing new connections among billions of neurons, and potentially recovering lost function.
With NeuroMovement®, I do NOT ask you to do what you cannot do. I understand that the loss of function is due to loss of connections in the brain. Instead, I find ways to minimize demands placed on your brain by so it can explore and learn, just like a newborn baby. One way I do this is by working with you lying down to remove the demands that gravity and the need for balance place on your body and brain.

WHAT IS ABM NEUROMOVEMENT?
NeuroMovement® (also called the Anat Baniel Method or ABM) is a therapeutic approach that helps people of all ages to move better, learn and think better, overcome limitations and improve performance.
Through gentle, innovative movement exercises and the 9 essentials, it is possible to create new neural patterns so you or your child can do things that previously seemed challenging, or even impossible.
NeuroMovement® is especially helpful for people who suffer from chronic pain, stroke and brain injury survivors, children with special needs such as cerebral palsy and autism, and people experiencing age-related balance and movement challenges.
HOW I CAN HELP

ABOUT ME
I discovered NeuroMovement® and the Anat Baniel Method through a friend who had used it to transform the lives of her adult and child clients with cerebral palsy. As a life-long amateur athlete, I was curious about the impact NeuroMovement® might have on my athletic performance, and from the first class I was hooked!
I thought my performance could only be improved through hard training and pushing my body to its limits, but NeuroMovement® offered me an alternative approach that made me mindful of my body and how I moved in space. I ran and cycled faster and easier, and the pain I habitually experienced from overtraining disappeared.
It didn’t take long for me to make the exciting but scary decision to leave my 20-year IT career behind and, after completing the 1.5-year training course in the US, become a certified practitioner of the Anat Baniel Method of NeuroMovement®.
After that first step, I haven’t looked back and I’m thrilled to have a fulfilling career helping people create ease, ability and vigour in every aspect of their lives. I am so excited to share this approach with you, and truly believe that NeuroMovement® will change your life.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY
PIPPA, BIOLOGIST
“I am a scientist who tends to stick with conventional medical options. Then I got arthritis, and conventional therapy wasn’t much help. Being treated by Claire gave me my life back - Claire helped me move again in ways I thought were out of my reach. As I prepare for hip replacement surgery, I know that having Claire in my corner will jump-start my recovery and help me become better-than-new.”
ELLI, RETIRED
“As a woman and elder who lives with a lot of pain, I have experienced various treatment modalities. I've started doing NeuroMovement sessions with Claire and feel I really benefit from the gentleness and the new body awareness that comes via this method. The method and Claire are very nurturing and it seems to me that my body does not get as defended and then learns to relax more easily. My brain also relaxes and so I feel more calm."
LIZ, POSTAL WORKER
"My right shoulder was in pain constantly before Claire began treating me. Now I can say the pain has gone thanks to Claire and ABM. I had never heard of ABM or NeuroMovement but it seemed logical to me and I am glad that I found it and Claire as a practitioner. She has a healing touch and will help many with her skills."
